Details of ‘False Security’

2009 April 6

“False Security” is the title of my installation/sculpture at Sculpture Key West 2009.  The Sculpture is a bright pink camper amongst the trees with a welcome mat that says “TRUST ME”. Once you peek inside you will see an installation of attacking paper dogs. The whole piece is an paradox based on the the idea that everything that glitter is not gold. Each attacking dog inside the camper is stitched together by hand out of out of fragile ‘non- threatening’ paper. I had the pleasure of meeting the Montessori kids for a field trip at Fort Zachory Taylor to tell them about my sculpture. Kids are so open minded and immediately got the “joke”. One bright eyed boy with curly hair claimed “I did not think there was going to be dog killers in there, all they can do is give you a paper-cut!”

Here is a couple of detail shots of the paper dogs to show the stitching and paper.
